School Superintendent

The Office of County School Superintendent is an education service agency. We serve as the fiscal agent for the county school districts and are a proactive coordinator of educational opportunities for teachers and staff throughout the county.

Homeschooling
To homeschool a child in Arizona, the parent/guardian must fill out an affidavit of intent form within 30 days of beginning home instruction.
The parent/guardian must also provide the following to this office:
- Child’s birth certificate (original or certified copy)
OR
- Another reliable proof of the student’s identification such as the following:
- Baptismal certificate
- SSN application
- School registration records (original)
- Affidavit explaining the inability to provide a copy of the birth certificate
- Letter from authorized representative of the agency with custody of pupil
Upon termination of homeschooling instruction, the parent/guardian must notify this office within 30 days of termination.
Homeschooling and Interscholastic Activities
ARS § 15-802.01.A A child who resides within the attendance area of a public school and who is instructed at home shall be allowed to try out for interscholastic activities on behalf of the public school in the same manner as a pupil who is enrolled in that public school. Registration, age eligibility requirements, fees, insurance, transportation, physical condition, qualifications, responsibilities, event schedules, standard of behavior and performance policies for homeschooled students shall be consistent with those policies established for students enrolled in that public school. B. A child who is instructed at home and who was previously enrolled in a school shall be ineligible to participate in interscholastic activities for the remainder of the school year during which the child was enrolled in a school.
